Introduction
FOSMA was formed in March 2009. Its aim is to raise money for the repair and upkeep of the fabric of our beautiful village church. Since its formation it has become a registered charity and obtained approval in order that it reclaim tax back via the Gift Aid scheme. So far over £44,000 has been raised by holding a series of successful, enjoyable and varied events and from membership fees.
The purpose of the Friends is to enable the many different groups of people who value Adderbury’s magnificent church, to play a part in keeping the building in a good state of repair, and preserving it as a focus of village life and a place of great beauty for many future generations of Adderbury residents .
St Mary’s belongs to the whole village. It is available when needed at various important stages of our lives, for baptisms, weddings, and funerals, a place of prayer and reflection, and as a venue for concerts, and many village events. It is the aesthetic highlight of the village by day and floodlit at night. It is all too easy to take this great building for granted and easy to underestimate what is needed in practical terms to ensure it remains in good order for the benefit of Adderbury and its people.
